New Covenant to Observe 500th Anniversary of The Reformation
In August our Bishops called all of us to observe the 500Th anniversary of the posting of Martin Luther’s 95 these on the door of the Church in Wittenberg, Germany. Already churches from many traditions have gathered to give thanks for the renewing impulses unleashed by the Reformation, repent for the ongoing brokenness and division of Christ’s body, and look forward in hope to the healing and unity of the Church. Our Bishops write, “As a body of believers born out of an ongoing movement for reformation and renewal, we Methodists should not let this moment pass by without marking its significance. We hope you will join us in remembering the events that sparked the reformation with thanksgiving, repentance and hope.” As we look toward the 500th anniversary of this event on October 31st, we at New Covenant will celebrate in worship on Sunday, October 29th.
